Some Twitter fans believe they’ve already unmasked the performers behind Kitty and Mouse. If those theories prove to be true, it wouldn’t be the first time internet sleuths have guessed the celebrity before they are revealed.
A video of Kitty singing “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande surfaced ahead of Wednesday night’s episode. Because of the vocals displayed, fans have an idea of who could be behind the mask. Some guesses immediately named Grande as the person under the mask, though the performance would be the first time a Masked Singer performed one of their own songs. Instead, the conversation points to one of Grande’s former co-stars on Nickelodeon show Victorious.
Others went on to name Tori Kelly, famed singer-songwriter, as the voice behind the mask.
Another popular fan theory has been circling since the start of The Masked Singer Season 3. Mouse, who will perform for the first time on Wednesday, has been identified as Paris Hilton by many fans. The theory began following a few early clues in a promotional video for season 3.
In the video, Mouse wears Ugg boots, the color pink and a chihuahua, all things that Hilton popularized in the 2000s.
The six new masks that will air Wednesday night are Banana, Elephant, Taco, Mouse, Frog, and Kitty. The Masked Singer introduced the six new contestants via a clip on the show’s Twitter account. According to the judges in an exclusive preview published by The Wrap, Group B is more energetic than Group A, and may even be more entertaining for viewers.
Last week, Chaka Khan was unmasked as Miss Monster. Her dismissal followed those of Drew Carey and Lil Wayne. Three masked singers from Group A are still in the competition – Turtle, White Tiger and Kangaroo. None are expected to appear again until Group B, and likely Group C, have been narrowed down.
Each week, a new clue package is presented for all performers, allowing fans to piece together possible identities with more information than just the celebrity’s singing voice.
The Masked Singer premieres at 8 p.m. ET on FOX every Wednesday.
